Decoupage

Hellooo,
I just wanted to write a short post about this craft activity thing called decoupage. I'd seen it done on a few things before but only really discovered it recently! Basically, it's where you get an item, eg. a cardboard letter and cover it with special papers that you rip up and glue on, then you varnish it to make it shiny. Anyway i'm doing a terrible job of explaining it so just google it or something!
I got some cardboard letters for my birthday, spelling out my name Sophie, and I also got some really pretty papers.
I thought all of the papers looked really good to start with but it turns out that some are better than others. I would recommend getting papers with a consistent pattern and I would also say that spots aren't the best choice as it looks a little odd when you put them on! Flowers look really good though and they're also mega cute.
I also got a tiny giraffe to decoupage as well, it's so cuuuute!!

The brand of papers I got was 'Deco Mache'. I love all of their patterns so I would highly recommend them although there is plenty of other choice.

As well as the stuff to decoupage and the papers, you will need some varnish. Some people use the varnish to stick on the papers, but I just use PVA then varnish the finished product.

You can get all of the stuff from Hobbycraft, they have a massive range of decoupage products. It actually ends up quite cheap too, and they are great fun to make and look amazing when finished!
